Arrived today from PSE. U.S. Scott 279A. This is an important stamp to send in. There are only two used Scott 279A to date none others Used or not used. And there are only one on cover certified by APS the only one according to the expert. These stamps are Rare

The cover below is the only cover ever found of Scott 279A Has an APS certificate and is listed in the Eskun and Burken First day U>S cover earliest used and only one ever recorded.
Scott 279A vertical watermark, Seneca Falls New York May 17 1902, Doremus Type D cancel used from 1902-1910.No received Mark.

I had arranged with the APS That I was aloud to remove stamp from cover to reveal the watermark direction before I sent it to them. Ken from APS said it would still count as being on cover. A 279 watermark direction in this direction ^ or top to bottom (Horizontal) of stamp. A 279A watermark is in this direction<> side to side( Vertical) What happened was the sheets of paper were placed in the wrong direction, The results were Scott 279A.This is the certificate I got back from the APS. They had to send another cert the first one had the covers wrong date on it even experts make mistakes some times
